So I'm looking at Amazon.com and looking for things to add to my wish list for Christmas. Now this always includes things I'm pretty sure I won't get so I decided to add a PS3. The only problem is I don't know which one I should add. Is 80gb's going to be enough? Let me know what you think. Also, I'm wondering if I should get a PS2 before they stop making them entirely since they are ruining backwards compatibility. I know Derek and Damon were talking about that a while ago. Also, I want to know if there's any new awesome video games out that I should think about adding as well.

Here are a few things to consider for the PS3:
1) Right now, there are less than 10 games that I would recommend for the PS3 (and there are only a couple that I would recommend if you don't have a HDTV)
2) The PS3 is not all that great of an upgrade unless you also get a HDTV with it (I spend more time watching Blu Ray movies than playing the games)
3) Sony is trying to do a bunch of stuff with the PS3 to make it an all-in-one media device, but I rarely use any of their features
4) Unless you plan on downloading TV shows, movies, music, and video games to your PS3, you won't ever feel that the 80 GB is too small
If you want, I'll bring my PS3 for Thanksgiving so that you can see all of the features for it. Maybe I'm wrong and you would love to download all kinds of stuff and play video games online, but that doesn't sound like the kind of thing that you normally do. Send me an email if you have any questions.
Unfortunately, I haven't been keeping up with the new PS2 games. The only one that I'm excited about is Eternal Poison (comes out in Nov I think). I do have a list of old games that you can probably find for cheap (most, if not all, for less than $20)
Gamecube:
-Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (I enjoy all of these strategy RPG games)
-Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (very similar to Super Mario RPG)
-Skies of Arcadia (I haven't played it, but I have heard that it is good)
-Tales of Symphonia (My old roommate had it, so I played it, but never finished it. The part that I played was good)
PS2:
-Psychonauts (Hilarious game, but the controls are a little annoying. Well worth it, though)
-Ratchet & Clank (Very good game. Funny story and good controls.)
-Ratchet & Clank 2 Going Commando (Haven't played it, but I enjoyed the first one and the one on the PS3)
-Ratchet & Clank Up Your Arsenal (Haven't played it, but I enjoyed the first one and the one on the PS3)
-Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (Haven't played it, but I enjoyed the first one and the one on the PS3)
-Ratchet Deadlocked (Haven't played it, but I enjoyed the first one and the one on the PS3)
-X-Men Legends (I don't recall if you ever played this with me, but I enjoyed it quite a bit)
-X-Men Legends 2 (Same as above)
-Marvel Ultimate Alliance (Haven't played it, but it's very similar to X-Men Legends)
-Tales of Legendia (My old roommate had it, so I played it, but never finished it. The part that I played was good)
-Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (Good game)
You might want to play these before you buy them (but I have them, so I can loan them to you)
PS2:
-Castlevania: Curse of Darkness
-Castlevania: Lament of Innocence
-Bujingai: The Forsaken City
-Beyond Good and Evil
-Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories
These are all puzzle games that I play quite often on the DS (I usually play them for a half hour before I go to sleep)
-NY Times Crosswords <- hundreds of crosswords ranging in difficulty from Monday to Sunday (I can generally do most Monday and Tuesday puzzles)
-Picross DS <- Pretty tough puzzle game. Look around online for a couple of puzzles and see if you like it.
-Platinum Sudoku <- I enjoy sudoku
-USA Today Crossword Challenge <- Not as good as the NY Times one because they don't have different difficulty levels (and most are too hard for me)
They perfected the 3D platformer with the Ratchet and Clank game on the PS3. The older ones aren't quite as good (at least the first on isn't), but they're probably the best platformers on the PS2. You can also find all of them for around $10 (check Best Buy, I found the first one there for $9.99). Let me know if this was helpful or just annoying.
If you're putting up crazy stuff just in case someone decides to buy it, go all out.
My plan is to pick up a second PS2 when they get super cheap (or when they stop making them) so that I have a backup when my current one dies.
